- Description
- NAICS Code: 541620 The Research Management and Support Staff (RMSS) of the Office of Resources Management and Administration (ORMA), Office of Research and Development (ORD) at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking two college students to provide services under a contractual agreement to serve as a Technical Researcher and assist in the activities of RMSS. RMSS provide critical support required to strengthen the management and physical framework that enables ORD's Research and Development program by ensuring a sound infrastructure, integrity in management and financial processes, and effective extramural management. RMSS serves as the focal point for oversight of ORD-wide policies and committees (e.g., Extramural Management, Management Integrity/Federal Managers' Financial Integrity Act, Working Capital Fund, Buildings and Facilities, Capital Equipment, Health and Safety, and the Federal Activities Inventory Reform (FAIR) Act Inventory). The student contractors must be enrolled in, and have completed two or more years at a credited college/university or equivalent. This work is to begin as soon as possible and NTE a two year period. It is anticipated that the student contractors will work part-time or up to 40 hours per week. The majority of the work will be Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The duty location is ORD/RMSS, US EPA, Ronald Reagan Building, 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20004. Work will be primarily performed in an office environment. The hourly rate ($ 12.17 per hour or $23,463.76 per year) is commensurate with the level of education and experience. Student contractors will be paid the basic hourly rate only for the number of hours worked and do not receive overtime premium for any hours worked beyond the 40-hour week. Student contractors do not accrue leave or holiday benefits and are not paid for any non-work days, regardless of the reason. Federal, State, Local, and Social Security taxes will not be withheld; student contractors are responsible for reporting income to authorities and paying all taxes. Student contractors are responsible for all costs of transportation to and from the principal duty station location. EPA does not provide housing, meals or other living expenses while working at the principal duty station. Non-U.S. citizens may be eligible to participate, depending on their immigration status and the applicable regulations of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). Interested students may apply to this opportunity by providing a one or two page resume or statement of qualifications including: student's full legal name; mailing address; telephone number; email address (if any); date of birth; Social Security Number; place of birth; citizenship and, if not a US citizen, immigration/VISA status; education, including description of course curriculum and total number of hours; and attach a copy of the most recent transcript, listing courses taken, and GPA. Two letters of recommendation are suggested. Send your resume or statement of qualifications to: Tom Caffrey, Contracting Officer, Ronald Reagan Building, MC 3803R, 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20004 (caffrey.thomas@epa.gov). Applications will be accepted until positions are filled.
