Description
The Forest Service will be accepting offers for the Sunset Campground Rehabilitation. This project includes, but is not limited to construction staking, clearing, removal of existing culverts, excavation and embankment, reconditioning existing road and camping spurs, widening and/or lengthening designated camping spurs, construction or reconditioning of spurs or turnouts at existing toilets, surfacing reconditioned areas with hot bituminous pavement and surfacing new construction areas with crushed aggregate base course and hot bituminous pavement; construction of portland cement concrete sidewalks, relocation of potable water lines and water hydrants and installation of pipe sleeves for future waterline construction. Major quantities include 1.23 miles of road and spur reconditioning, 160 cubic yards of excavation, 450 tons of crushed aggregate base course, 1150 tons of hot bituminous pavement, 2.5 tons of SS1h (fog seal), 180 feet of 6-inch corrugated metal pipe, 80 square yards of portland cement concrete sidewalks, 330 feet of 3/4-inch schedule 40 PVC, and 9 accessible water hydrants. LOCATION: The project area is located on the northeast corner of Lake Pillsbury in the Upper Lake Ranger District of the Mendocino National Forest. To reach the project area from Ukiah California, take Highway 101 north seven miles to the junction of Highway 20, thence five miles east on 20 to the junction of County Road 240, thence north five miles to Potter Valley, thence four miles north on County Road 240B (Eel River Road) to the top of the hill and the junction with 240A; turn right onto 240A and travel 0.46 miles to tie back in with 240B; turn right on 240B and travel 0.15 miles to the junction with Forest Road M8, thence nine miles on M8 to the junction with Forest Road M1 at the Eel River Bridge; thence 5 miles on M1 to the junction of Forest Road 18N16. Proceed on Road 18N16 for approximately 0.5 miles to the Sunset Campground entrance. PREBID TOUR: A pre-bid tour will NOT be scheduled. CONTRACT TIME: 75 calendar days. ESTIMATED PRICE RANGE: Between $100,000 and $250,000. Work is estimated to start approximately August 9, 2004. Solicitation estimated issue date is May 11, 2004, with an estimated due date of June 10, 2004. The solicitation will be posted at this website for viewing and printing.
