Description

The U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) is conducting a market investigation to identify possible sources of corrosion preventative compounds (CPCs) or rust inhibitors for application in the Army Corrosion Service Centers (CCS). The Operational Requi rements Document for the CPCs (FCS), dated 25 Nov 02, indicates that corrosion must be reduced by 30%, either in quantity or severity, over an untreated surface. Additionally, treatment with CPCs must not adversely impact the performance of any military c oatings. Candidates will be tested over coated and uncoated steel, aluminum and magnesium. Samples will be exposed to accelerated cyclic corrosion and constant salt fog environments. The vendor will supply technical support in the form of application pro cedures and MSDSs prior to the test phase. It is anticipated that the integration effort will take four months and the test effort will take five months. The CPC selected must already be in production to allow for the above integration/test effort as detai led above. This market survey is for information purposes only; this is not a Request for Quotations. No solicitation document exists.
