Description
Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), operated by Princeton University under contract to the U.S. Department of Energy, is seeking interested sources to provide technical and budgetary cost information on possible turnkey solutions for voice telecommunications system for the PPPL site. The solution will replace services currently provided to PPPL via a Verizon Centrex III service agreement which will expire on July 5, 2005. PPPL is seeking information on possible approaches for providing basic telephone service including central switch and PBX type arrangements (Voice over IP will not be acceptable approach). PPPL plans to acquire and cut-over to a new service by July 5, 2005 for its location on the James Forrestal Campus on Route 1 North in Plainsboro, New Jersey. PPPL is a single location, multi-building campus with approximately 500 people working onsite. The Telecommunications Office manages voice communications at PPPL. PPPL currently maintains 925 Centrex lines utilizing Verizon trunks to the Verizon POP, 2 TIE lines to Princeton University Main Campus and 24 Centrex ISDN BRI lines for videoconferencing. Equipment is analog station sets with 2 attendant consoles. Voicemail service is provided through Verizon?s Answer Call Service for 200 voicemail boxes with 30-minute message storage per mailbox. UPS backup system is provided and maintained by Verizon. Minimum features required by PPPL are voicemail with message waiting light indicator, caller ID, conference calling (3 parties), call transfer, call forwarding, call pickup, hold, speed dialing, cordless phone capability, call accounting capability. PPPL prefers to have a total turnkey solution including: provision and installation of all common equipment necessary for the proposed solution; connection to existing in-house voice cable network; project management and oversight; service and support of equipment; training of administrators; trunk connectivity for outbound LD & DID incoming with caller ID; flexibility to expand for future growth; compatibility with existing analog phones. Note that this action does not and will not include provision of long distance calling services. New telephone system/service shall be installed, tested, fully operational and ready for cutover from the current system on July 5, 2005. Further information on PPPL?s requirements will be made available at a Vendor Information Session to be held at PPPL in the Melvin B. Gottlieb Auditorium on Thursday, April 8, 2004 at 9:00 AM EST. The purpose of the meeting will be to provide an overview of PPPL?s current state and requirements and to answer any questions from interested parties. The session will include an informational tour of the PPPL facility including examination of the telecommunications equipment room. All interested vendors are invited to attend; however, attendance is not mandatory in order to respond to PPPL?s Request for Information. Those planning to attend should confirm by email ONLY to swarkala@pppl.gov (no phone calls please) and provide the company name and full names and citizenship of individuals planning to attend (for security purposes). Attendees must present a government issued photo ID in order to enter the PPPL site. This is a Request for Information (RFI)/Sources Sought Notice and is not a request for proposals/request for quotations (RFP/RFQ). This information is being sought at this time for decisional purposes and will not be the basis for award of any contract. The RFP/RFQ, if any, will be issued on or after April 30, 2004. PPPL is soliciting responses to this RFI from all interested parties; however, firms interested in providing only a partial solution or associated services that are not a part of this requirement (such as long distance services) should not respond to this request. Responses to PPPL?s Request for Information (RFI) shall include the following details: a description of the proposed solution including a list of all equipment/software/materials to be provided, detailed non-recurring and recurring cost estimates, and an estimate of the lead time for award necessary for cutover to proposed solution by July 5, 2005. To be considered by PPPL, responses to this RFI must be received by PPPL on or before April 15, 2004. Responses should be sent to Sharon Warkala via email swarkala@pppl.gov and must include the Company name and address and the name, telephone number, fax number and email address of the responsible point of contact for this action. Further information about PPPL can be obtained from the PPPL public website at www.pppl.gov.
