- Description
- This is an announcement to notify industry that the Global Positioning System (GPS) JPO intends to hold a Modernized User Equipment (MUE) industry day on 1 Apr 04 at the Aerospace Building, A-8 Conference Rm. The purpose of this industry day is to present the current MUE Program concept as it prepares to enter into Phase B, briefings on the top MUE issues, and receive comments in one on one sessions. MUE has recently undergone a number of acquisition changes and modifications and the GPS JPO is seeking industry comments and questions. The MUE Program is nearing completion of Phase A and is preparing to enter Phase B. Phase A activities consist of government development and assessment of MUE technical requirements, alternative acquisition strategies, and preliminary cost estimates. Additionally, four PRDA contracts were awarded to reduce program risk. Contract tasks included contractor assessment of key technical and design issues related to security architecture, receiver design, and the inclusion of multiple signal processing, YMCA. Phase A activities are now sufficiently mature to enter into Phase B. The MUE Phase B program entails development of YMCA-capable receiver cards (GRAM-SEM-E and GB-GRAM form factors), with subsequent integration into host equipment. The GRAM-SEM-E will be integrated into the MAGR-2000 and the GB-GRAM will be integrated into a TBD Army platform. Contract award is projected for April 2005, with a 48 month period of performance. Development of the receiver cards will take place during the first 36 months and integration into the host platforms will take place during the final 12 months. Government presentations are scheduled from 0800 to 1000 with one-on-one sessions to follow. It is anticipated that all meetings will be concluded by 1700. If sufficient requests for one-on-ones are received the meeting will be extended into a second day. One-on-ones are anticipated to be 45 minutes in duration. Government presentations will be unclassified. Any requests for classified one-on-one discussions will have to identified at the time of request. All notifications of attendance or requests for one-on-ones must be made by 29 Mar 04. Please direct all notifications of intention to attend, request for one-on-ones, list of names attending and phone numbers, and any questions regarding this announcement to the Primary and Secondary POCs.
