Description
The US Army TACOM-Picatinny is conducting a Market Survey to identify potential sources for supplying the U.S. Army with a Technology for Current 120mm combat rounds to limit mission effectiveness that expose soldiers to unnecessary risk. Funding for this program could be provided by the (FCT), Foreign Comparative Testing Program. The technology is to provide Enhanced Lateral Effect against requirements to defeat light & medium vehicles, buildings & bunkers, and double reinforced concrete walls with low collateral damage. This would eliminate safety problems related to the current M830A1. The Warhead technology could be used to modify existing unserviceable rounds currently in the demil stock pile; which would be either Kinetic Energy (KE) or High Explosive warheads. Existing metal parts can be used to create an alternate inert warhead to meet current mission requirements against light & medium vehicles, buildings & bunkers. The Government intends to test then procure a round with M830/M908 performance without the associated safety hazards. The technology should utilize hydrostatic shock to couple non-explosive energy to achieve the desired explosive effects. Applications should be applied for M908, M830A1, M829, and M455 tank rounds as well as replacement of explosive fills for artillery, mortar ammunition, missile warheads, and low collateral damage bomb fills. The warhead should not contain explosives or fuzes and should be totally insensitive. Obsolete ammunition should be retrofitted inexpensively with this technology to make state-of-the-art multi-purpose ammunition that improves the survivability of light vehicles, due to the absence of explosives. Warheads with this technology should be easily and safely demilitarized. Respondents should have sufficient production capacity to supply the U.S. Army. Interested firms, who feel they are capable, are invited to indicate their interest by providing the U.S. Army a detail description including a ROM, and a brief summary of their company’s capabilities including brief description of facilities, personnel, past production experience and environmental compliance as it relates to the product. A follow-up detailed questionnaire may be provided to survey respondents and on-site visit may be performed as a result of further analysis. Samples from respondents may be purchased for in-house preliminary testing. Interested firms should provide the manufacturer’s name, address, point-of-contact, telephone number, e-mail address, size of business (small/large) and country where the facility is located. The information must be submitted within 15 calendar days from the date of this publication to:U.S. Army TACOM-Picatinny PC3, Picatinny NJ 07821 rpipchick@pica.army.mil. This Market Survey is for planning purposes only and should not be construed as a request for proposal or as an obligation on the part of the U.S. Government. The U.S. Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this Market Survey or otherwise pay for information solicited. The information you provide will only be used by the U.S. Army in developing its acquisition approach for future 120mm combat rounds that expose soldiers to unnecessary risk. Note 25, and 26
