- Description
- On May 4, 2004, the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia is sponsoring a one-day only Domestic Sourcing Conference to address concerns surrounding current and anticipated shortfalls in domestic availability. Conference Registration - Registration is open to industry groups, trade associations, defense suppliers, customers and Congressional staffers. Register early so that we can ensure a space for you. Choose one of the three ways to register: - on-line at http://www.dscp.dla.mil/events/register.htm. - via email to Margaret.Marlette@dla.mil - call 215.737.0317. Registration closes March 31st. Location is the Embassy Suites, Philadelphia Airport, Philadelphia, PA 19153 On an annual basis, DSCP buys $10.4 billion worth of food, clothing, textiles, medicines, medical equipments, general and industrial supplies and services for Americas warfighters worldwide. Through this conference you will get a lot of information about domestic sourcing issues within the U.S. Defense Department. You will hear about the things that the government can control and the influences outside of its reach. In other words you?ll not only learn where DSCP believes the whole domestic sourcing issue is going, but you?ll leave the conference with a sense of what you can look forward to and where the opportunities lie. The morning session will consist of presentations by representatives from DSCP who?ll be discussing current and anticipated shortfalls in domestic availability. The afternoon will consist of Commodity break-out (General and Industrial; Subsistence; Medical; Clothing and Textiles) sessions. It?s during these sessions where you?ll be asked to brainstorm innovative ideas to improve domestic sourcing for the various commodities that DSCP buys for America?s heroes. In addition, representatives from DSCP?s Small Business Office; the Small Business Administration, and the Defense Contract Management Agency will be available for consultation.
