Description
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Africa Bureau, anticipates the award of two-year plus three-option year Cost Reimbursement Plus Fixed Fee contract(s) under Open Competition for contractor(s) to administer the implementation of the President’s Africa Education Initiative (AEI) Ambassadors’ Girls’ Scholarship Program (AGSP) so that 250,000 scholarships are awarded to girls in sub-Saharan Africa for their educational development especially at the primary level. USAID anticipates the award of possibly one or up to three contracts to handle the three regions each containing approximately 15 African countries. The AGSP has been implemented in 40 sub-Saharan countries over the past four years under the Education for Development and Democracy Initiative (EDDI), which closes September 30, 2004. The objective of the program is to support the goal of the retention of girls in school who would otherwise have no means of staying in school. This will be done through the awarding of scholarships and complementary mentoring programs which will inspire and encourage the girls in their educational pursuits. The availability of the solicitation is limited to this electronic medium only. Request for copies of the solicitation will be disregarded without notice to the requestor. No phone requests will be accepted and no solicitation will be available for pick up. It is the responsibility of the recipient to ensure that the solicitation is received from the internet in its entirety. The publication of this notice or the solicitation does not obligate the Government to make an award. The solicitation will be posted in approximately 15-20 days after the date of this notice.
