Description
The United States Border Patrol, Tucson Station is currently looking to arrange a contract with a local privately owned indoor firing range to conduct mandatory quarterly qualifications. Said range must meet various standards to qualify. The contractor must make the range available exclusively to U.S. Border Patrol Monday through Thursday from 7 am to 12 noon of each week for the entire fiscal year. The range must be closed to public use during the aforementioned hours. The range must possess the following to be considered for the contract. The range must be an indoor firing range. The range must possess a minimum of 12 (twelve) firing points. The range must be able to accommodate a qualification course distance minimum of 1.5 yards and a maximum of 25 yards. The range must possess a public address system that has a hands free remote microphone. The range must possess moveable barricades for the 25 yard line course of fire. The range must possess a storage area dedicated to Border Patrol use that would allow storage of up to 5000 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition and 50 cardboard target backers. The range must possess some type of classroom facility with chalkboard or marker board. The range must be able to accommodate shooters qualifying in low light level conditions. The range must possess a ventilation system that conforms to existing OSHA standards The range must be able to accommodate the following calibers, .40, .223 (may be frangible), 12 ga. slug and 12 ga. 00 Buckshot. The range rules cannot disallow movement within the firing points by students (ie. standing to kneeling transitions.) The range rules cannot disallow students from drawing and firing from the holster. The range rules cannot disallow a student from moving in front of the firing points with a instructor present, (ie. tactical move and shoot type drills where instructor/student ratio would be 1 to 1). The range rules must allow shooters to utilize weapons on fully automatic fire drills (.223 cal.). The propose contract will be for a base year, and 4 option years.
