Description
A Cost-Type contract with a cost reimbursement provision for a prototype 6X6 FMTV-Based Medium Tactical Truck with Tag Axle which will leverage concepts and evolve design of the MTTD (Medium Tactical Truck Demonstrator) and other TARDEC/PM-MTV R&D Pr ojects. Revised performance specification incorporates capabilities of multiple patented technologies and requires enhanced performance in areas of ballistic/mine blast protected cab, signature suppression technology, hybrid drive train capability, mainte nance/replacement capability, disc brakes, full-time all wheel steer, independent suspension with minimal wheel-well intrusion, expanded fording/trench crossing capability, improved/relocated MHE, and a light-weight tilt/roller bed, able to support two 463 L pallets with a total gross weight of 20,000 pounds, for direct C-130 463L pallet removal. This truck will incorporate a 2004 EPA-Certified diesel engine, automatic transmission, SAE J1708 and/or J1939 data bus and antilock brake system (ABS). This prot otype will include a tag axle behind the first axle to distribute the weight of an armored steel cab to meet C-130 axle weight load restrictions. The tag axle also enhances trenching capabilities. This vehicle must be capable of operating during on-road conditions and withstanding st rain, shocks, vibrations and other conditions detrimental to off-road travel and operation. The vehicle will be capable of meeting all requirements throughout a life-cycle mileage profile consisting of 20% primary road, 50% secondary road, 15% trail and 1 5% cross country operations while carrying a 3-person crew and specified loads. This acquisition will be Sole Source to General Purpose Vehicles (GPV) LLC, New Haven, MI. (See Government-Wide number notes 22 and 26) Email: boydca@tacom.army.mil or mika d@tacom.army.mil
