Description
SUBJECT: Market Investigation for Helmet System The Product Manager-Clothing and Individual Equipment at the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Center (NSC), Natick, MA is conducting a worldwide market research investigation for Helmet Systems. The NSC is interested in a Helmet System (shell and face shield) wi th the ability to accommodate military and/or commercial air purifying respirator gas masks or provide standalone respiratory protection against liquid and vapor NBC agents without the use of separate NBC mask. Helmet system must have the ability to accom modate military and/or commercial air purifying respirator gas masks or provide standalone respiratory protection against liquid and vapor NBC agents without the use of separate NBC mask with the face shield in a position covering the face and mask. The i ntended use of the helmet system is with a blast protective bomb disposal suit with priority interest in a helmet that can integrate with commercially available bomb disposal ensembles (Explosive Ordnance Disposal Suits). Helmets should offer fragmentatio n, blast, and impact protection as a minimum. Helmet shall offer complete head coverage. All safety hazards associated with the operation, maintenance, transportation, storage, and handling of the Helmet System shall be eliminated or reduced to an accept able risk level. Any potential health hazards shall be identified. Interested firms are requested to submit information on their product(s) within sixty (60) days following the publication of this synopsis. Interested sources shall include information d etailed in the CBD Note 25 regarding a firm??????s experience, personnel, and facilities. Information must include, but not limited to, product cost, technical information (e.g. physical properties, performance characteristics of shell and visor, test met hodology (e.g. ASTM, UL, NFPA)), size availability, certification/compliance (NFPA, ANSI/OSHA), material identification, and MSDS, illustrations and designs, color availability, warranty terms, relevant company background/experience, ISO 9000 certification , list of current users of equipment, and any other information that the company believes demonstrates the value of their product(s) and ability to meet the requirements. Companies are also encouraged to submit samples for evaluation. Any information/sam ples submitted will not be returned, and no payment will be made by the Government for such samples.
