- Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, it is the Governments intent to award a sole source procurement for a magnetic degausser, HD-6000 to Data Security, Inc, of Lincoln, NE. Fort Drum Directorate of Information Management requires a degausser for purg ing classified/sensitive information. The degausser must meet DoD specifications for purging the Classified/Sensitive Information tape media up to 2500 Oersteds including 8 mm, 4 mm, and DLT tapes. Degausser must also meet DoD specifications for purging Classified/Sensitive Information from hard disk media up to 3000 Oersteds including zip disks, jazz disks, 1/3, 1/2, and full-height hard drives without removing the disk platters. Degausser must be listed in the National Security Agency approved Degausser Products List (DPL) as meeting these requirements. Degausser must accept hard drives to 3.5 in. high by 6 in. wide by 10 in. deep. This is not a formal solicitation. This synopsis is not considered a Request for Quotation or Proposal. No solicitation d ocument is available and telephone requests will not be honored. No contract will be awarded on the basis of offers received in response to this notice. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantag eous to the Government. If no affirmative written response is received, the purchase will be awarded without further notice. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on this notice is solely within the discretion of t he Government.
