- Description
- Provide professional Architect/Engineering services for Replace Fire Alarm System, Project No. 537-03-914C, at VA Chicago Health Care System, West Side Division, 820 South Damen Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60612. Prepare the design development program, working drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and construction contract documents to replace the current fire alarm system to meet current VA Design Standards and NFPA requirements. Demolition of existing architectural, mechanical, electrical, and sprinkler items are included in the project. Some of the work involved includes chasing of walls, new pull stations, upgraded electrical raceway, wiring, circuitry and controls, flow switches, along with other related fire protection items. This may include new and/or relocated equipment, flooring, ceilings, cabinets, and other finishes necessitated by the project. Estimated construction cost is between $1,000,000.00 and $2,000,000.00. Design completion time is 90 calendar days from contract award, with design review at 35%, 75% and 100%. Standard design criteria established for the Veterans Affairs Facilities to be followed; are available at www.va.gov/facmgt/ae. Area of consideration is restricted to 300 miles of VA Chicago Health Care System, West Side Division, 820 South Damen Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60612. Selection criteria will be based on: (1) past performance on similar projects, maintaining project schedules and project budgets; (2) Overall engineering design experience and capability with architectural, mechanical, and electrical renovation projects; (3) Qualifications of staff to be assigned, with special emphasis on field personnel to be utilized; (4) knowledge in design and construction requirements; (5) Cost control effectiveness; (6) Location of office supporting project; and (7) Ability to produce all plan documents on a CAD system fully compatible with Autocad 2000. A/E firms which meet the requirements listed in this announcement are invited to submit two copies of Standard Form 254 and Standard Form 255 by March 2, 2004. NAICS code 541330 applies.
