- Description
- The Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) Joint Program Office (JPO) will be holding a Briefing to Industry on February 26, 2004, 0800 - 1600, Washington, DC, to discuss the Government and industry's view of the future of the JTRS program. The purpose of this briefing is to communicate to interested parties where the government sees the JTRS program going and to learn from industry what perceived or anticipated technology shortfalls might inhibit the JTRS development. An exchange of ideas and informatio n is desired to facilitate the understanding of the role of industry within this program from a full lifecycle perspective that will span decades of evolutionary JTRS development. The overall goal of the JTRS program is to provide the US military with enha nced radio frequency communications capabilities that will allow for the implementation of Net-Centric Operations and Warfare and support the DoD's Joint Vision for future operations. Additionally, the JTRS will have significant applications within other g overnment agencies and allied governments. The Briefing will open with remarks from the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Army Acquisition Executive, and the JPO Director followed by discussions of JTRS, evolution of the Software Communications Architect ure (SCA), JTRS Networking Strategy, and an Open Panel Discussion. Prospective attendees are encouraged to submit written suggestions of other topics for discussions to JTRS.industryday@hqda.army.mil. Participation will be limited to US industry only. For those interested parties who may have proprietary information that they wish to share, one-on-one meetings with the JTRS may be arranged. Requests for one-on-one meetings may be sent to the above e-mail address. Schedules for one-on-one sessions will be c oordinated with individual parties. All interested parties are invited to provide written feedback for the government's consideration. Participation will be limited to space available. To allow for the maximum diverse industry participation, each company will be limited to two participants. A conference fee of $20 will be charged to cover the expense of refreshments.
