Description
LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL LABORATORY SEEKS PARTNERSHIPS WITH INDUSTRY TO COMMERCIALIZE OPTICAL SYNTHETIC APERTURE RADAR (OSAR) TECHNOLOGY Announcement: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), operated by the University of California under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking one or more industrial partners to commercialize LLNL's Optical Synthetic Aperture Radar (OSAR) technology. Scientists at LLNL have developed an Optical Synthetic Aperture Radar (OSAR) concept, which has significant advantages over conventional Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technology in terms of platform/sensor and laser frequency stability requirements. Additional features that distinguish the concept from conventional SAR technology include the impact of atmospheric turbulence on image quality. Preliminary analysis and modeling investigations carried out to date show promising results. The objective of the commercial partnership is to develop and eventually license existing intellectual property. The partnership will include a comprehensive system analysis and modeling, followed by a demonstration of the technology. LLNL is seeking industrial partners with a demonstrated ability to bring such inventions to the market. Moving critical technology beyond the Laboratory to the commercial world helps our U.S. licensees gain a competitive edge in the marketplace. LLNL is also looking for collaborative research and development to improve the invention and to explore other usages of the invention. The University of California?s Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory can license technology through exclusive or non-exclusive licensing agreements, as appropriate. All projects are conducted under policies relating to the strict nondisclosure of company proprietary information. Note: THIS IS NOT A PROCUREMENT. Companies interested in commercializing LLNL's Optical Synthetic Aperture Radar (OSAR) technology should provide a written statement of interest and a description of corporate capabilities relevant to commercializing the technology. Written responses should be directed to: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Industrial Partnerships and Commercialization P.O. Box 808, L-795 Livermore, CA 94551-0808 Attention: FBO 64-04 Please provide your written statement within thirty (30) days from the date this announcement is published to ensure consideration of your interest in LLNL's subject title.
