- Description
- The National Institute of Standards & Technology has a requirement for an Imaging Spectrometer/CCD Camera System to interface with the existing optical apparatus and data collection software. This system is used for our spectrally resolved four wave mixing experiments on proteins. The system must be suitable for measuring very weak signals (averaging times of ~1 hour) and rapidly measuring signals (1 per second). In order to meet these requirements, the system must have a very low dark current, and low readout noise. All components must be manufactured by a single supplier, in order to ensure that a single software program can control all aspects of system operation. The system should consist of: 1) 300 mm path length imaging spectrograph with a 3 grating turret, electronic shutter and dual exit ports. One exit port must accommodate a CCD camera and the other port must accommodate a single channel detector. The entrance port must have an adjustable slit, and must have an adapter for use with bifurcated fiber bundles; 2) CCD camera based on a front-illuminated, open electrode chip, 1024 pixels wide by 256 pixels high, liquid nitrogen cooled, with a Dewar that holds a minimum of 1 liter of liquid nitrogen; 3) 16 bit CCD camera controller with at least a 100 kHz readout rate, in order to permit multi-region spectral acquisition at a rate of at least 1 spectrum/second. The controller must have programmable I/O outputs, in order to provide the capability to be synchronized with other experimental components; 4) The system must be controllable/programmable with a Windows XP based computer, using an interface card. Software for using the system must be available in two forms: i} stand-alone software for alignment and setup, ii} Labview drivers for controlling the system within the currently existing software, which is written in Labview. It is the intent of the Government to award this procurement on a sole source basis under authority of 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1) with ROPER SCIENTIFIC of Trenton, NJ. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (NTE $100,000). This synopsis is issued for information only. No competitive solicitation is planned. No award will be made on the basis of requests in response to this notice. Terms & Conditions and agency level protest procedures can be found on web site http://oamweb.osec.doc.gov/conops/#REFERENCE. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether or not use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the Government's best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to this requirement. These are the complete specifications and no RFQ is available. All technical questions shall be addressed to Ed Holliness of NIST at 303 492-4021. This RFQ will expire February 9, 2004.
