- Description
- The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to contract on a sole source basis with McDonnell Douglas Corporation (MDC), a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, for the Systems Development and Demonstration of the EA-18G variant of the F/A-18 aircraft. Requirements include design, development, integration, engineering, test and evaluation of the EA-18G weapons system, including software, and modification of six (6) F/A-18F aircraft into the EA-18G configuration, to include AEA subsystem. Also included are logistics planning and logistics, engineering support, special tooling and test equipment, training devices and developmental spares. Additional requirements may include Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) of 30 EA-18G weapon systems including AEA avionics and installation, or other such quantifies as may be authorized or appropriated by congress (Airframes to be procured via a separate contract). LRIP requirements will also include a EA-18G unique support equipment, logistics and engineering support, production rate tooling, spares, support engineering, and operations and evaluation testing support. Boeing, the sole designer, developer, integrator, and manufacturer of the F/A-18 aircraft and associated trainers, is the only known firm possessing the unique specialized experience and engineering expertise, tooling, facilities, and requisite in-depth knowledge of the F-18 aircraft and weapon system design, operation, and maintenance to integrate the Improved Capabilities (ICAP) III Electronic Attack (EA) capability into the F/A-18 weapon system and fulfill the Government's requirements within the required timeframes. Any interested party must have the approved facility(ies) and personnel clearances necessary and demonstrate ability to obtain required clearances in time to meet schedule requirements with the response. The respondent must also submit a Statement of qualifications to demonstrate their ability to develop and integrate the electronic attack systems into the F/A 18 aircraft within the required timeframe.
