- The Air Armament Center (AAC), Eglin AFB, FL intends to award a Sole Source, Firm-Fixed Price contract for a Positioning System to Atlantic Microwave Corp, 11528 53rd Street N, Clearwater, Florida 33760-4825. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. PAPER COPIES OF THIS SOLICITATION WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE. Solicitation number F33TSP33300100 is issued as a Request for Quote (RFQ) using Simplified Acquisition Procedures found in FAR Part 13. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334220, with a small business standard size of 750 employees. The requirement is for 1-each, Lightweight, high performance Positioning System and 2-each, Axis Rate Gyro. The basic system consists of a model SPS-2350 precision positioner (a mechanical capable of precisely positioning a radar sensor(s) in azimuth and elevation) and associated Servo Control Unit (SPS-2715) and Remote Control Unit (SPS-2820). It should also include the following: full documentation package (O&M manuals, schematic diagrams, test data and Interface Control Documents), joystick, failsafe brakes, and a 47 feet pound EL torque motor included in the system. Also required are two each, Two-Axis Gyros. This positioner forms an integral part of a $5.5M Millimeter-Wave Instrumentation Radar System and must be compatible with the existing Xybion 2350 procured by this Agency in FY 2000. The size, weight, and payload capacity of this positioning system are critical elements of the design of the radar transceiver heads which will be mounted on the positioner which in turn is to be mounted on a 110 feet Boom/Hoist platform. The boom has a maximum payload capacity of 1000 pounds. This requires a lightweight positioner (weighing less than 170 pounds) capable of remotely positioning a 400 pound sensor payload. The positioning system and the Axis Rate Gyro are required are to be delivered at Eglin AFB Florida, 6-8 months after award of contract, FOB Destination.
