Description

Project work as specified in the plans and specifications consists of constructing a low embankment of approximately 1.5 feet above the existing site grades. The purpose of the embankment is to cut off several shallow surface drains and restore the wetland hydrology. A wave berm is required along portions of the upstream side of the embankment. Work will include approximately 3016 cy stripping (embankment); 3260 cy stripping (scrapes/borrow); 5016 mineral fill (embankment); 2021 cy embankment topsoiling; 3260 scrape/borrow topsoiling; 3 AC embankment seeding; 3.5 AC scrape/borrow areas seeding; mobilization; and erosion control. Borrow material is to be obtained from 10 separate locations. Performance will begin in Spring 2004 when conditions are suitable. Performance time will be three weeks from receipt of notice to proceed. Range of cost is $25,000 to $100,000. The site showing will begin at 9:30 AM on 1/9/04, located at Balsam Lake Service Center, 941 Mallard Lane, Room 103, Balsam Lake, Wisconsin. For directions call that location at (715) 485-3138. After a brief meeting concerning the bidding process and contract requirements, the group will leave for a tour of the work site.
