Description
The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Nordic Ammunition Company (NAMMO), Vanasverken AB, Box SE546 23, Karlsborg, Sweden 54623, the U.S. Marine Corps and USSCCOM requirement for the acquisition and qualification of non-development improvements to the existing 40mm M430 High Explosive, Dual Purpose (HEDP) cartridge. This procurement is conducted based on a Foreign Comparative Testing Proposal approval. Improvements will include a propulsion system that eliminates the base plug design of the current cartridge and incorporation of programmable variable time fuze that allows the cartridge to function and fire from both the General Dynamic Armament Systems MK47 and MK19 Grenade Machine Gun. The Product Improvement Program will consist of two self-destruct HEDP versions (point detonating and programmable). The prime co ntractor will be fully responsible for integrating an improved Propulsion System, including the propellent, and the contractor developed Incendiary and Penetration Effects Warhead and Standard Fuze Interface Technology. Upon successful completion of the integration efforts, approximately 5000 rounds will be procured for US Testing and Qualification. The solicitation number is N00178-04-R-1014. Note 22 applies.
