- Description
- Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 7, Augusta, Georgia, intends to negotiate a sole source procurement under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, with Sheppard Community Blood Center, 1533 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA 30904, for estimated quantities of autologous blood, red blood cells; platelet concentrates, random donor; platelet phereses; platelet phereses-leukoreduced; red cells, allogeneic; fresh frozen plasma; and cryoprecipitate, for VA Medical Center, Augusta, Georgia. The contractor must collect, process, label, store and transport red cell donations from VA Autologous patients to VA Medical Center, Augusta, Transfusion Service, to allow donations before surgery to be used after surgery, if needed. The random donor plate concentrates must be delivered or available for pickup by VA personnel so that delivery to Transfusion Service will occur within 30 minutes form the time the order is placed with the contactor. Any platelet products received that have a shelf life of less than three (3) days will be credited if not used before expiration. Methods, procedures and protocol determination or suitability, for collection, testing/processing, labeling, storage and transport, shall be in accordance with current FDA/AABB requirements. The applicable NAICS code for this solicitation is 621991 with a size standard of $8.5 million. The intended contract will be for the period October 15, 2003, through October 14, 2004. This Notice of Intent is NOT a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability by submitting literature and documentation, detailing their experience in providing these products, to the Contracting Officer or by fax to (478) 274-5579. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. All responses must be submitted no later than 1:00 PM, October 3, 2003.
