- ****NOTICE: THIS REQUIREMENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED****Modification #1. The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Applied Research Program (ARP) within the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences plans to enter into a sole source contract with Anne B. Rodgers, 202 E. Jefferson Street, Falls, Church, VA 22046. The ARP mission is to plan, conduct and support research related to evaluating patterns and trends in cancer related risk factors, health behaviors, economics, outcomes, and health services and determining the influence of those factors at the individual, societal and systems level on patterns and trends in measures of cancer burden, including incidence, morbidity, mortality and survival. ARP mission is to develop a variety of communications devices: facts sheets, web pages, research reports, and to disseminate the results of this research to a wide range of audiences. The purpose of this procurement is to secure the services of an accomplished writer/editor with in-depth experience communicating scientific findings through various forms, on an as-needed basis. Anne B. Rodgers has worked with a number of NIH Institutes during the period 1999, 2000, 2001-2002 on the NIH Progress Reports on Alzheimer’s Disease, an annual report to the Congress that’s used as a resource by many other audiences as well, including scientists, journalist, and teachers. Ms. Rodgers has written/edited several publications for NIAMS on rheumatoid arthritis and lupus; she has provided writing and editorial services to NIDDK on projects relating to prostate disease and kidney transplantation. Ms. Rodgers is currently working on a project for CDC that involves a series of publications on HIV prevention in injection drug users. CDC is increasing its focus on this issue and crating a technical assistance network to help state health departments and its other state and local partners apply a comprehensive approach to working with IDU’s. Ms. Rodgers is the only source known to the NCI, that has the experience that is directly related to the wide range of activities within the ARP. This is not a solicitation for competitive quotations. However, if any interested party believes it can provide the above services, they may submit a statement of capabilities. The statement of capabilities and any other information furnished must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow NCI to determine if the party can perform the requirement. Capability statements must be received in the contracting office by September 11, 2003 by 1:30 P.M. EDT (Local Washington, D.C. time).
