Description
The Great Lakes Acquisition Center (GLAC) intends to negotiate a sole source contract with the Amersham Corporation of Arlington Heights IL for the purchase of a AKTAPPLC/FRAC901 Chromatography System for the VAMC, Lakeside, Chicago IL. This procurement is being conducted in accordance FAR 6.302 - only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. NAICS 339112. In order to meet the needs of the facility, equipment must include the following: 1) A two-pump piston gradient formation pumping system with dynamic mixing required to maintain the integrity of the proteins of interest. 2) Proven air sensor capabilities, which shall assure that no sample, will be lost due to buffer loss and unattended sample loading. 3) FDA validated software and hardware allowing for the finished protocols and products to be used in a commercial setting if so desired. 4) Equipment must be able to attain pure results with the protocol of interest in combination with the Superose column. 5) The separation system must be specifically designed for the purification of proteins and must be able to operate at 4 degrees C. 6) 100% biocompatible preventing protease and degradation. 7) Zero back pressure must be included. 8)The entire wetted flow path of the system must be inert to halides. To the best of our knowledge the AKTAPPLC/FRAC901 is the only equipment, which can meet the performance requirements of the Medical Center. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be accepted. However; any firm that believes it can meet the requirements or has the functionality of the above equipment, may give written notification to the Contracting Officer within (ten) 10 calendar days from the date of publication of this synopsis. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail, to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements. Information can be sent to the Contracting Officer, VAMC-GLAC, Building 5, 5000 W. National Ave. Bldg. 5, Milwaukee WI 53295 or via fax to (414) 902-5440. Responses received will be evaluated however; a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, the GLAC will proceed with the sole source negotiation with the Amersham Corporation.
