Description
The Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division (NAVEODTECHDIV) is seeking a Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) triaxial fluxgate magnetometer digital measurement system that can be used to screen a wide range of equipment used by military personnel. The system must be able to determine the precise intensity of magnetic signatures produced by the item being tested. This market survey solicits vendors? information that fully explains their existing technology features, capabilities, and performance. The technology and components of the fluxgate magnetometer system must be common and readily available. The system is required to have a long service lifetime, so the use of rare devices or soon to be obsolete components is unacceptable and the software must be upgradable (if applicable). The output of the system should include a means of data acquisition such as software , and a portable storage device for the data, like a laptop. This announcement serves to survey product availability and is not a request for proposals. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes only, and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. Interested parties are encouraged to respond by providing their company name, points of contact, business size, and a technical description of five or fewer pages (not including any additional descriptive literature). Additional information may be obtained from Paul West at (301) 744-6858 x233 or email westpj@eodpoe2.navsea.navy.mil. Submit responses to: Commander, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division, 2008 Stump Neck Road, Indian Head, MD, 20640-5070 Attn: Margaret Booth, Code 0521, or email to boothma@eodpoe2.navsea.navy.mil not later than 10 August 2003. Technical Descriptio n Format 1. General Information 1.1 Vendor Information: Name, address, point of contact, email and postal address, telephone number, and related WebPages if applicable. 1.2 System. Name and model number. 1.3 System Size. Include system dimensions and list of components, such as power supply, laptop, etc., and their dimensions. 1.4 System Picture. Photograph must allow viewer to see overall system size. 1.5 Technology. A brief description of the technology used by this product. 1.6 Output. Sample of the output and user interface of software if applicable. 2. Performance Parameters of the Triaxial Fluxgate Magnetometer Digital Measuring System. 2.1 Sensors. Must have three sensors covering the three axes of measurement (X, Y, and Z) 2.1.1 Detection Effectiveness. The sensor must be able to detect changes as small as one Gamma (1 nT) in a field of 100,000 Gamma (1 Gauss). 2.1.2 Sensor Axial Alignment. Must have orthogonality better than ? 0.1?. 2.1.3 Sensor Types. Two acceptable sensor types are ring core sensors or rod/F?rster core sensors. Company specific sensors will be considered if ample data is supplied comparing them to the above mentioned sensors. 2.1.4 Sensor Noise. < 0.1 nT (0.01 Hz to 10 Hz) 2.1.5 Sensor Housing Size. The entire sensor housing must be no bigger than 1.5 inches high by 1.5 inches wide by 5 inches long. 2.2 Portability. Defined as a one-man portable system. 2.3 Typical Environment. Electrical power supply available is of 110Volts at 60Hz. System must be suitable for not only laboratory use, but also use in outdoor environments. If battery operated must include battery life and type, typical operating time, and typical charge time. 2.4 Ou tput. The output should be digital and include a data acquisition and storage system. Must have a portable storage device, and the information must be stored in an easily printable format. 2.4.1 Ease of Use. Rated as ?Simple, Average, or Difficult? determined by the difficulty for a user to record the data of magnetic a test, and save that data in a format that is easily printable later. 2.4.2 Data Acquisition. Must have a means of data recording and storage. Storage system should be in the form of a laptop, with the ability to write data into CD form. 2.4.3 Software. The latest versions of LabVIEW are acceptable and must be included as part of the finished system. Must have the ability to alter software for specific needs such as displaying the outputs in graphical form. 2.4.4 Sampling Rate. Must be able to sample at least 25 samples per second for Eddy Current Test. 2.5 System Accuracy. System must have an accuracy of at least ? 0.5% at full scale. 2.6 Field Measurement Range. System must be able to measure field strengths of at least ? 65 μT. 2.7 Calibration. How often do you recommend having the equipment calibrated? Does your company provide calibration services for the equipment? By what standards due you calibrate your equipment? 2.8 Special Features. The ability to record other data such as time and date of test, temperature at which the test was performed, and magnetic background field strength during each test. Definitions ? nT ? nanoTesla ? 10-9 Tesla ? μT ? microTesla ? 10-6 Tesla ? 1 Gamma = 10-5 Gauss = 10-5 Oersted = 10-9 Tesla ? Magnetic Test ? Refers to static testing of an object. ? Eddy Current Test ? Refers to t esting of an object in motion.
