- Description
- The U.S. Department of Commerce, NOAA is seeking interested parties to take ownership/transfer title of NOAA Ship FERREL. Basic contract items include locate, remove and dispose of hazardous materials IAW detailed specifications for hazardous materials removal and salvage/transfer ownership of the vessel. NOAA Ship FERREL served as a Coastal Survey Ship and is 133 foot, 32ft beam (moulded) with PROPULSION ? two Caterpillar D353 diesel reduction, fixed pitch prop, one Bird-Johnson bow thruster (tunnel); ELECTRIC SERVICE ? Caterpillar 3406 diesel generator 450 VAC, 200 amp, 3 phase; CREW SIZE ? 14 with 20 bunks in 10 double state rooms. Ship is currently located at Marine Operations Center, Atlantic, 439 West York Street, Norfolk, VA. Remediation will be done IAW detailed specifications, Federal, State and Local environmental, safety and health regulations to be provided in the solicitation. Previous surveys conducted on the ship have identified hazardous materials in regulated concentrations such as lead-based paint, solid PCB?s in wiring/insulation, and CFC refrigerants. The performance period will be 42 calendar days with an approximate start date of 23 OCT 2003 and shall be completed on or before 4 DEC 2003. All work is to be completed at contractor?s facility. Ship transit times shall be included, under tow, in the contract performance period. The vessel will be available for inspection on 28 AUG 2003 at Marine Operations Center, 439 West York Street, Norfolk, VA. Arrangements for inspection can be made by contacting the Port Engineer at (757)441-6717. This award is intended for a firm fixed price contract using sealed-bid procedures. All responsible sources may submit a bid, which shall be considered by the agency.
