Description

NA The Nashville District Corps of Engineers intends to issue a solicitation for stream bank protection and improvements at Bear Creek about 30 miles west of Muscle Shoals in Colbert County, Al near mile (311.5). Work consists of minor clearing and grubbing, bank preparation, underwater placement of stone toe trench and placement of quarry-run stone. Minor clearing and grubbing will be required within the area to receive protection. The National Park Service (NPS) wishes to protect and preserve as many tr ees at the site as possible. Prior to any clearing, the NPS will mark any trees that are not to be disturbed. Wet excavation (1400CY) will consist of a 3-ft toe trench. Bank preparation will consists of minor excavation and shaping, placement of fill ma terial and placement of 3900 square yards of no woven geotextile fabric along the exposed banks, prior to placing stone. The estimated quantity for stone placement is 6200 tons. The site can be assessed from the Natchez Trace Parkway. The Contractor mus t provided temporary haul roads for construction access off the Parkway. Temporary erosion control measures must be installed prior to any clearing activities. After construction, the Contractor must repair and re-seed all disturbed areas. The Contract or must adhere to specific weight limits and speed limits on the Parkway. During hauling activities, traffic control equipment and flagmen must be provided in accordance with the US Department of Transportation??????s Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Dev ices (MUTCD). Contractors may view and or download this solicitation and all amendments at the following address: http://www.lrn.usace.army.mil. It is expected this Solicitation will be posted on or after 10 August 2003. Contractors are responsible for checking the website to obtain amendments. No paper copies or CD??????s will be issued. If any informational changes occur during the advertisement period, contractors will be notified if they have registered at the site. The solicitation is a firm fi xed price Invitation For Bid (IFB), total HUBZone Set-Aside, to be opened on or about 10 September 2003. Completion time for this project is 75 days. To be considered for award, successful bidder must be a certified HUBZone contractor. The Small Busine ss Administration (SBA) in accordance with 13 CFR part 126 determines status as a qualified HUBZone small business concern. If SBA determines that a concern is a qualified HUBZone small business concern, it will issue a certification to the effect and wil l add the concern to the List of Qualified HUBZone Small Business Concerns on its Internet Website ant http://www.sba.gov/hubzone. The NAICS code is 237990 with a standard size of $28.5 million. The estimated range is $100,000.00 to $250,000.00. Affirma tive action to insure equal employment opportunity is applicable to the resulting contract. Liquidated damages will be specified.
