Description
The Program Support Center, Division of Acquisition Management intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with the University of Washington, 4245 Roosevelt Way, NE, Campus Box 354765, Seattle, WA 98105 to extend their National Center of Excellence (CoE) in Womens Health contract number 213-98-0016 for an additional year, October 1, 2003 through September 30, 2004. The contract was awarded in 1998 along with 5 other CoE contracts. These were the 3rd generation of CoEs. The National Centers of Excellence in Womens Health were designed to fill a critical need for the provision of state-of-the-art, comprehensive, culturally and linguistically appropriate, and integrated health care services targeted to the special needs of women, for the development of a multi-disciplinary research agenda on women?s health issues, and for enhanced public and health care professional education on women?s health issues. This additional option period will continue to develop and evaluate comprehensive national model program(s), which focus on womens unique needs in the health care delivery system by providing both educational and clinical services to women, and development of multi-disciplinary research programs on womens health linking specialty areas, while reducing the Government funding for the CoE in an effort to make the CoE self sustaining in the future. The additional option period has been justified in accordance with FAR 6.302-1(d). This is not a request for proposals. See Numbered Note 22.
