- Description
- The Government is seeking professional design services from an Architect-Engineering firm to develop working drawings and specifications to use for construction of a 'Clinical Support/Transplant Lodging'. This will be a 20,000 gsf building situated at the Vancouver, Washington campus of the Portland VA Medical Center, Portland, OR. It is envisioned as a single story building. The lodger space will be similar to a "college dormitory", with individual bath and sleeping areas with a communal kitchen and social area. The patients served by the lodger unit are Veterans and their support person who are going through a liver or kidney transplant. The clinical support area includes the Compensated Work Therapy program. This work includes architectural, structural, electrical, HVAC, mechanical, etc. Design will include compliance with all applicable building codes and VA design standards. All construction drawings shall be provided on AutoCAD 2002 and specifications in Microsoft Word 2000. The NAICS code is 541310 with the small business size standard of $4M. Construction cost estimate is between $3M and $4M. Award will be made to the A/E judged by the VA to be the best qualified for the work. The following additional factors also apply: 1. Evaluation of knowledge of healthcare facilties and prior successful experience designing project of the same/similar size, nature and cost; 2. Reputation and standing of firm and principal officials with respect to professional performance, general management and cooperativeness; 3. Record of significant claims against client because of improper or incomplete architectural and engineering services; 4. Past performance and capability on meeting schedules and mobilizing. Area of consideration is limited to a 50-mile radius from the Portland VA Medical Center, Portland, OR, 97239. A short list of qualified firms submitting SF254 and SF255 will be used to determine award. All interested, responsible, and qualified business firms within the geographical limitation desiring consideration shall submit three (3) copies of SF254 and SF255 and other pertinent information to arrive no later than 4:00pm, 8 August, 2003 with cover letter of interest identifying RFI 648-72-03 directly to Suzanne Scott (P4CONT), PO Box 1034, Portland, OR 97207-1034.
