Description

HARPERS FERRY, IOWA This contract includes furnishing labor, supervision, transportation, operations supplies and incidentals to perform all work necessary to conduct cutting, scattering, chipping and/or the removal of all woody fuels. The project is to be completed using hand labor for all cutting, gathering and scattering operations. Motorzied equipment is prohibited other than the use of four-wheel drive vehicles, tractors, or all-terrain vehicles (ATV). This project provides mechanical reduction of hazardous grass and wood fuels for the prevention and control of wildfires. This project will involve working with a private property owner and the Area Manager of the Yellow River State Forest, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, to remova hazardous fuel accumulations on their property for the purpose of lessening fire escape potential between public and private lands. The contract consists of two type of fuel reduction. One is mowing CRP/forest edge that consits of grass, brush and saplings. The second consists of had removal of brush, saplings and small trees from designated areas alon old logging roads. Magnitude of project: $25,000.00 to $100,000.00.
