Description
NA The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be issuing a Invitation for Bid for the Painting of the Bourne Bridge, Cape Cod Canal, Bourne, MA. The work of this project consists of cleaning all of the metalwork of the Bourne Bridge to bare metal and painting the entire steel superstructure, including approach spans and appurtences. The bridge is a continuous truss type structure comprised of approximately 7,000 tons of steel and is 2,384 feet long and 51 feet wide. At mid-span the lowest portion of the bridge s tructure is 135 feet above mean high water. The existing paint on the bridge includes red lead primer. All surface preparation work must be done in accordance with all applicable regulations regarding environmental and worker protection including contain ment, collection, and disposal of all lead contaminated blast debris. Traffic control systems will be required for certain portions of the work. All painting contractors and painting subcontractors bidding on this project shall be registered and certified in accordance with the following requirements of the Painting Contractor Certification Program (PCCP) of the Steel Structures Painting Council (SSPC) of Pittsburgh, PA: SSPC QP1, Standard Procedure for Evaluating Painting Contractors (Field Application t o Complex Industrial Structures), August 1, 1998, and SSPC QP2, Standard Procedure for Evaluating the Qualifications of Painting Contractors to Remove Hazardous Paint, August 1, 1995. Painting contractors and painting subcontractor shall be certified by SSPC to QP1 and QP2 before the day of bid opening and shall maintain certification throughout the duration of the project until final acceptance of the work. Bidders will be required to submit a copy of the SSPC QP1 and QP2 certifications with their bid. Solicitation shall be made available via the Internet on or about 7/10/03. No paper copies of the solicitation or amendments will be available. The firms interested must register on th e Internet to receive the solicitation. Registration instructions are available on the internet at http://www.nae.usace.army.mil/index/html as well as the media by which the solicitation will be made available. Amendments, if any, to this solicitation w ill be made available at this internet site. Neither telephonic, mailed nor fax requests will be accepted. Those registering are responsible for the accuracy of the information on the registration list.
