- Description
- The Office of Public Health and Science (OPHS), Office of Minority Health (OMH), through the Program Support Center (PSC), intends to award a twelve month sole source simplified acquisition to the Office of Multicultural Health, Oregon Health Division. The purpose of this simplified acquisition is to increase the number of bilingual/bicultural workers in the nursing profession to more closely mirror the population that the health care system serves. The concept provides for health care employers to identify high performing ?incumbent? bilingual/bicultural workers from their professional staff who would have the ability, motivation, and support to participate in a specialized nurse training program uniquely designed to meet their needs. The Nursing Shortage Demonstration Project was conceived and developed by the Oregon Office of Multicultural Health in response to a continuing and growing disparity in the number or minority nurses available to provide culturally appropriate health care to an increasingly diverse general population. Closing date for this announcement is July 10, 2003. The proposed simplified acquisition action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed simplified acquisition based upon responses to this Notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Contractors may forward capability statements to the referenced address within 15 days after the date of publication of this Notice. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
