Description
NASA/MSFC has a requirement for the following: LINE ITEM 1. High Speed Transmission with Lube Supply. Transmission Specifications: 1. Government requires a gear set, transmission housing, input and output shafts supported on bearings and lubrication system. 2. Unit will be driven by a 300 HP variable speed electric motor and must be capable of operation at all speeds up to 18000 RPM output shaft speed. 3. Transmission will be used to drive a hydrostatic bearing test rig rotor for two hours a day and five days a week. 4. 1:5 speed increasing gear set. 5. Input shaft max speed is 3600 RPM. 6. Output shaft maximum speed is 18000 RPM. 7. Transmission must handle 300 HP (87.5 ft*lb) at 18000 RPM. 8. Horizontal input and vertical output shafts. 9. Transmission must be painted to prevent rust in a room that is not climate controlled 10. Unit must stand alone and be complete: ?Any lubrication pumping, lubrication cooling, and lubrication reservoir requirements must be provided by the manufacturer and included in the quote ?Transmission must bolt to the floor and support itself independently of the motor and test rig ?Transmission must be fully assembled and ready for test work upon arrival. This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, which is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ); quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13. Questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in writing and/or e-mail/fax no later than July 8, 2003. Interested Organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on July 14, 2003. It is the quoter's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of amendments (if any). Potential quoters will be responsible for downloading their own copy of this notice. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.
