- Description
- The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism intends to negotiate a 5-year contract on a sole-source basis with Blackwell Publishing Ltd. to publish a supplement to the Addiction journal. The statutory authority to negotiate with Blackwell Publishing Ltd. is 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) under FAR 6.302-1. Blackwell Publishing Ltd. is under contract to publish Addiction journals and is Addiction?s sole publisher. The objective of the proposed contract is to publish a collection of articles representing ?Research Perspectives on Treatment for Adolescent Alcohol Problems? in a supplement to the journal Addiction, a premier international journal in addiction research. The supplement will serve a research guide on theoretical and methodological issues involved in the development of research to increase the effectiveness of adolescent substance abuse interventions with a focus on alcohol. The supplement will contain a brief introduction, eight review articles and three research reports. This contract will include several options to allow for the publication of future supplements. The proposed contractor is the leading international journal in addiction research and is the only company that can ensure wide circulation of the publication to a broad clinical as well as addition research audience.
