Description
The National Park Service (NPS) is seeking a qualified firm to provide all services, including labor and equipment to complete the Chickasaw National Recreation Area wildland/urban interface hazard fuels reduction project at the Point Area of Arbuckle Lake. The area consists of approximatley 7.5 acres. The purpose of this project is to remove fire fuels in a manner that will create a defensible zone between park resources and private property. A fire break 20 feet wide shall extend along the boundary for the entire three miles. This equates to approximately 7.5 acres. All Cedar trees Juniperous virginiana, and Juniperous asheii, less than eight inches in diameter will be cut down completely and placed at least ten yards outside the defensible zone and inside park property. The remaining Cedar trees, AND hardwood trees, within the firebreak will be limbed up to a height of six feet from the ground. Trees that have limbs that protrude into the 20-feet wide zone, must also be limbed up around the entire tree. Some smaller hardwoods may be cut and removed as needed to access Cedar trees. The remaining Cedar trees should have at least 30 feet between their canopies. To accomplish this distance, it may be necessary to cut larger trees and/or remove trees outside the 20-feet wide zone. Removal will be accomplished by the use of chainsaws or hand tools. All Terrain Vehicles may be used to access remote areas. Other vehicles (less than one ton) may be used on established roads and trails only. This is a Commercial Item Acquisition. The NAICS Code is 561730. The small business size standard is $6.0 milliion It is anticipated that all elements of this solicitation will be obtainable at the following websites: http://www.fedbizopps.gov and http://ideasec.nbc.gov. The solicitation will be posted on or about July 1, 2003. However, if a hard copy of this solicitation is desired, please fax your request to 580/622-2296. Requested hard copies will be sent via U.S. Mail on or about July 1, 2003. No telephone requests for this package will be accepted. Quote response date listed in this announcement is approximate; actual date will be established at the time documents are available.Contract Award will be on a fixed-price basis and based on best value to the Government.
