Description
The National Park Service (NPS) is seeking a qualified firm to provide all services, including labor and equipment, to complete the Yellowstone National Park wildland/urban interface fuels reduction project at the East Entrance, the Northeast Entrance and the Lake Area. There are 712 trees marked for removal at the East Entrance. They range from 5-28 inches in diameter. Average diameter is about 12 inches. These numbers are estimates and reflect only standing timber. It is expected that the contractor remove downed materials as well greater than 5 inches in diameter. There are 1526 trees marked for removal at the Northeast Entrance. They range from 5-28 inches in diameter. Average diameter is about 12 inches. These numbers are estimates and reflect only standing timber. It is expected that the contractor remove downed materials as well greater than 5 inches in diameter. There are 720 trees marked for removal logs to be removed in the Lake Area. They range from 5-20 inches in diameter. Average diameter is about 12 inches. These numbers are estimates and reflect only standing timber. It is expected that the contractor remove downed materials as well greater than 5 inches in diameter. The Government reserves the right to award one, two or three contracts (one for each area). The combination of the following evaluation factors, which are listed in descending order of importance, is significantly more important than price is and will be used to determine the contractor's level of capability: 1. Technical Approach i.e. method of fuel removal. 2. Past record of ecological sensitivity for similar projects. 3. Ecological approach to this work. This solicitation will be available both electronically and in hard copy on or about July 2, 2003. Requests for a hard copy must be in writing and may be faxed to 307 344 2079.
