- Description
- NAICS Code: 541380 The United States Environmental protection Agency Microbial Contaminants Control Branch (NRMRL/WSWRD/ MCCB) is conducting research that involves the development of sequencing databases to classify the micro-organisms inhabiting water distribution systems and watersheds. The contractor shall provide all facilities, materials, and services required to support laboratory analysis in the sequencing and classification of phylogenetic and function-specific genes. The primary gene to be sequenced is the bacterial 16S rDNA; however, clones harboring toxin-related genes and antibiotic resistant genes of the same approximate length may also be sequenced. The majority of genes subject to sequencing and classification will approximate 1500 bases in length. The sequencing reaction output will consist of a minimum of 900 bases per reaction, with a minimum of 98.5 per cent Phred accuracy per basecalling. The contractor shall process approximately 100 samples per week, with the capability of processing up an additional 300 samples per week. It is anticipated that the contractor shall process approximately 2000 to 2250 samples over a period 18 months. The final number of samples to be sequenced could vary depending on data analysis, the type of DNA template provided to the company, and the synthesis of the sequencing primer. This acquisition is being processed under FAR Part 12. The NAICS Code is 541380 and the applicable size standard is $6.0 million. A request for proposals (RFQ) shall be issued on or about June 23, 2003. The Request for Quotation (RFQ) will be issued subject to full and open competition. To receive a copy of the RFQ via e-mail, please direct your request to Mr. Charles D. McCormick at mccormick.charles@epa.gov or contact Mr. McCormick at area code (513) 487-2047.
