- Description
- The U.S.Army TACOM-ARDEC command is seeking to identify potential sources for large, hard shell carry cases for large metal parts. The Army is currently designing a subcaliber insert for the 120mm mortar system. This insert will allow 120mm Mortar Crews to train with the less expensive 81mm ammunition. A carrying case is needed to transport the insert to and from training sites. The hard shell case should be able to contain metal parts up to 70? x 6? x 6?. It must be of the ?clamshell suitcase?design to allow quick and easy access to its contents. It must provide several carrying handles on the sides, top, or ends to allow carry by 1 or more people of up to 100 lbs. It must have a customizable or self shaping inner foam padding system to accommodate/immobilize several pieces of hardware, and to keep them separate from each other. The case should incorporate some sort of seal or gasket to allow its contents to remain dry in the event of a downpour. All interested sources must submit details of their capabilities no later than 17 June 2003, to U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC, ATTN: Leonard Freilich, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000. Responses can also be submitted by email to freilich@pica.army.mil. Large files need to be compressed using WinZip(http://www.winzip.com).
