- Description
- NA The Volpe Center intends to purchase four (4) used and reconditioned 100- ton wood-deck flat railcars. The length required is 50 feet to 62 feet, 6 inches (15.24 meters to 19.05 meters). The capacity required is minimum 70 short tons (63.50 metric tons) The requirement is for general-purpose railcars that can be used for a variety of loads. The flatcars may be up to 50 years old but must be AAR interchange acceptable at time of delivery to destination.. After delivery to destination, these railcars will remain on the facility and will not be in interchange again. The contractor shall provide the material, labor and equipment to recondition, inspect, test, deliver and warranty the railcars. All railcars shall be delivered within 270 days from the contract award date. Delivery destination is to one U.S. Army facilities located in the eastern continental U.S. The NAICS code for this requirement is 336510. Detailed specifications will be set forth in the solicitation. The solicitation and any document related to this procurement will be available on the Internet; these documents will be available in text format and reside on a WWW server which may be accessed using Web browsers. Offerors desiring to receive electronic notification of the solicitation's posting and availability for downloading may register at the Volpe Center site. Contractors are warned that when they register to receive solicitations, amendments and other notices, the responsibility for providing the Government with an accurate and complete e-mail address lies with the contractor. The Government will make no additional efforts to deliver information when the system indicates that transmissions cannot be delivered to the e-mail address provided. Paper copies of the solicitation and or amendments WILL NOT be issued. The Department of Transportation (DOT) has a bonding assistance program available which enables minority, women and disadvantaged business enterprise firms to obtain bid, payment, and performance bonds with a guarantee up to 80 percent against losses. In addition, a short-term loan program is available to provide working capital at the prime interest rate.
