Description
This is Amendment 0008 to combined synopsis/solicitation number USZA22-03-R-0027 that was issued on 22 Apr 2003 for BALCS-Compatible Quick Release Body Armor Vests. The purpose of this amendment is to publish questions from industry and the Government's responses. Please note that this is not the forthcoming Amendment referred to in Amendment 0006. QUESTION 1. Is the armor plates to be on the front only,or on the front and back? ANSWER 1. The present and future BALCS systems contain a pocket carrier on the front and the back for both the hard plates and the soft ballistic armor. QUESTION 2. Is this to include additional armor plates? (soft or hard) ANSWER 2. We are not purchasing plates under this contract. The ability to fit the present BALCS armor into the BALCSR system is a critical requirement. QUESTION 3. What weapons will this be to guard against? ANSWER 3. NIJ-IIIA ballistics, however, this is not relevant to the BALCSR vest procurement because we are not purchasing the armor on this contract. QUESTION 4. What level of protection Level 2 or 3 ? ANSWER 4. This is not relevant to the BALCSR vest procurement because we are not purchasing the armor on this contract. QUESTION 5: What was the winning bid price on the last contract? ANSWER 5: There is no preceeding contract to this. This is the first procurement for a quick releasable BALCS body armor vest this office has conducted.
