- MODIFICATION TO SYNOPSIS: The Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) anticipates award of a firm-fixed price contract for Renovations to Building 4, located at the corner of Flushing Avenue and Waverly Street in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Brooklyn, NY. The warehouse serves both the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) Brooklyn, and the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) New York. The contractor will be required to provide all construction and other related services necessary to complete the project. The proposed project is planned to consist of the renovation of a currently existing warehouse of approximately 61,250 square feet. The project will provide food service storage areas to include: two (2) refrigeration unit storage area?s of 1,000 square feet each, and two (2) areas of freezer unit storage of 1,500 square feet each. The project involves the following: 1) Demolition work where needed. 2) Incorporation of a new sloped drive loading dock, sanitary and storm sewer connection. 3) New C.M.U. partitioning and doors, welded wire fencing and rolling grilles, walk-in coolers and freezers. 4) New side wall fiberglass insulation. 5) New exterior rolling doors and removal/blocking up of existing rolling doors. 6) New gas fired heating system and fan-powered ventilation system. 7) New toilet rooms and fixtures, water and sanitary drain lines. 8) New wet-pipe sprinkler system. 9) New electrical system, fire alarm and security systems. The building is a fully functional and occupied warehouse storage facility. Construction planning will be required to meet Owner?s occupancy needs. A phasing plan must be developed between the Owner and the Contractor prior to the start of construction in order to assure uninterrupted use of facility. Note: Existing warehouse has asbestos, which will be abated by a third party. The estimated magnitude of this project is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. Interested offerors must be a firm or joint venture with experience, individually or as a member of a team, satisfactorily completing a project of similar size and scope. Participation by consultants, and subcontractors located within the State of New York is encouraged. This particular notice is not an Invitation for Bid. The solicitation is available on or after May 21, 2003, distributed through the General Services Administration?s Federal Business Opportunities web site www.eps.gov. Hard copies of the solicitation document will not be available except in extreme circumstances, and only if issuance is determined to be in the Government?s best interest.
