- Description
- The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, National Institutes of Health, is soliciting proposals to study the feasibility of intraneural, auditory nerve stimulating electrode arrays, utilize neurophysiological tests to evaluate them acutely in an animal model, implant the arrays chronically and stimulate them in the animal model, evaluate any possible histopathology resulting from implantation or stimulation of the tissue. Based on these studies, the contractor will make a recommendation as to whether further studies should be pursued to develop an actual human intraneural electrode array. A four-year, cost-reimbursement type contract is anticipated, with award made on or about May 1, 2004. The solicitation will be issued on or about June 12, 2003, and will be posted on this Web site and at http://ocm.od.nih.gov/drc/rfp.htm. Offerors are responsible for routinely checking these Web sites for any amendments to the solicitation. Proposals will be due sixty days after the date of issuance of the solicitation. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which will be considered by the Government. See Numbered Note 26.
