- Description
- The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, National Institutes of Health, is soliciting proposals to study the feasibility of an auditory prosthesis for the deaf based on stimulating microelectrodes placed into the ventral cochlear nucleus. The research will include both animal and human studies. The ultimate goal is an auditory prosthesis for deaf individuals who cannot benefit from a cochlear implant. A four-year, cost-reimbursement type contract is anticipated, with award made on or about July 1, 2004. The solicitation will be issued on or about June 12, 2003, and will be posted on this Web site and at http://ocm.od.nih.gov/drc/rfp.htm. Offerors are responsible for routinely checking these Web sites for any amendments to the solicitation. Proposals will be due sixty days after the date of issuance of the solicitation. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which will be considered by the Government. See Numbered Note 26.
