Description
Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), operated by Princeton University under contract to the U.S. Department of Energy, is seeking interested sources to provide price and technical quotes to design, fabricate, test, inspect, and deliver one (1) Neutral Beam Connection Bellows to replace an existing assembly on the National Spherical Torus Experiment (NSTX) located at PPPL in Princeton, New Jersey. The bellows will be a rectangular bellows for high vacuum service approximately 24-in x 32-in inside dimensions with 2-inch build. Bellows shall be fabricated using 300-series austenitic stainless steel. Scope includes finite element analysis and full leak and cycle testing. Service environment requires operation at both room temperature and at 150 degrees C (302 degrees F). Service displacement includes a lateral component. PPPL will consider proposals for welded, hydroformed or other convolutions. PPPL desires to have the replacement bellows delivered by August 31, 2003. Minimum qualifications or capabilities: Firms will be required to have specific experience in the design, fabrication, and leak checking of bellows for ultra-high (10-9 Torr) vacuum service. Qualified firms will also possess or have access to: finite element analysis capability; welders and welding procedures qualified to the ASME B&PV Code Section IX; and helium mass-spectrometer leak detection capability. This announcement is not an RFQ. RFQ 03-050-G will be issued on or about May 15, 2003 and will be available for download at PPPL public website URL: http://oorm-1.pppl.gov/public/procurement/. Drawings referenced in the RFQ are available in hard copy only and will not be available for electronic download. Quotes will be due by close of business (5:00 PM EST) on Thursday, May 29, 2003. Statements of interest and/or requests for hard copy drawings should be sent via email to the POC Sharon Warkala at swarkala@pppl.gov and must include the Company name and mailing address and point of contact information including name, telephone number, fax number and email address.
