Description

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Las Cruces Field Office, has a requirement for thinning 66 acres of various fuel types. The project is located 25 miles South of Cloudcroft, NM, just South of Timberon, NM and South of State Highway 82 in Otero County. The contractor is to provide all necessary material, equipment and labor to thin 66 acres of pinon pine, juniper, oak and ponderosa pine. The contractor shall use chainsaws to complete the work. The project shall consist of cutting all under-story brush and hardwoods up to 4 inches in diameter, junipers and pinon pine up to 8 inches in diameter, and ponderosa pine up to 10 inches in diameter. All cut vegetation shall be completely severed from the stump with the stump height not to exceed 6 inches. Roads to the project area are un-surfaced. Wet weather could make travel somewhat difficult or need for the use of an ATV to prevent rutting or other road damage. Period of performance for this project is 90 days from date of award. The proposed contract is 100% set-aside for small business concerns and will be awarded on a firm fixed-price basis. Small Business firms must certify that they are either a business located in the State of New Mexico or certify to hire 51% of the workforce locally in New Mexico. This solicitation will be available on or about May 27, 2003. There will be a site visit on June 9, 2003 at 10:00. Bid responses will be due on June 27, 2003.
