Description
The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC is conducting a market survey to identify potential sources to design, fabricate and test prototype hardware. The Contractor shall apply Barrett Firearms Manufacturing, Inc. patented and proprietary technology to the XM109 payload rifle program. The Contractor shall modify Barrett Firearms Manufacturing, Inc. patented and proprietary Model 82A1 .50 caliber rifle to fire 25mm Objective Crew Served Weapon ammunition. The Contractor shall develop appropriate recoil reduction and recoil mitigation to reduce free recoil energy to less than 60 foot-pounds. The Contractor shall refine XM109 prototype design to improve reliability. The Contractor shall provide engineering support to the effort to refine the 25mm Armor Penetrator round in concert with General Dynamics Corporation. The Contractor shall provide prototype weapon fabrication and testing in support of weapon demonstrations and ammunition testing. Responses should consist of company name, address, point of contact, telephone number, fax number, description of item and company brochures/literature regarding contractor capability. Interested companies are encouraged to submit their responses and ideas to the POC. This notice is not a request for proposal. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this market survey or otherwise pay for the information provided. No basis for claims against the Government shall arise as a result of a response to this market survey or Government use of such information. The Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or in part, any private sector input as a result of this market survey. See Note 25.
