Description
INFORMATION OPERATIONS CONFERENCE: THE ASSOCIATION OF OLD CROWS and the National Security Agency will co-sponsor an Information Operations (IO) conference on 17-18 June 2003 at the NSA Research and Engineering Building, Ft Meade, Maryland. The theme of the conference will be: "Information Operations: Concept to Capabilities." The chairman of the conference will be Mr. Richard C. Schaeffer, Jr., Information Assurance Deputy Directorate, NSA. The classification of the conference will be TS/SI/TK, U.S. ONLY. The conference will focus on IO and IO applications that are critical to the ongoing success of NSA's mission. The conference will provide a forum for professionals in the field, from both government and industry, to discuss issues related to the requirements of IO programs, foreign threats to the relevant technologies and their use, and vulnerabilities of foreign/hostile forces in the arena. Keynote addresses will be from the Unified Commands and OSD. The conference will include three sessions. Session One will address policy issues and include: a service panel discussing how the services are organized and planning for IO, as well as delivering IO capabilities to the warfighter, Intelligence Community IO perspective, and legal considerations of IO. Session Two will cover operations and will provide briefings on: Current Exercises briefings by the Joint Staff; an NSA perspective, the value of SIGINT to IO, Non-Kinetic Targeting for Effect, and Computer Network Operations Battle Damage Assessment (BDA). Session Three will focus on tools and technology. Briefings include: an address by the Director of the Information Operations Technical Center (IOTC), as well as briefings from industry and academia. The conference will conclude with an address by the Director of NSA, Lt Gen Michael V. Hayden, USAF, focusing on NSA's IO future.
