- Description
- The Coastal Systems Station (CSS), Dahlgren Division, NSWC, Panama City, Florida intends to solicit Prizm Advanced Communications Electronics, Inc., 6655-R Amberton DR #R, Baltimore, MD 21075, on a sole-source basis for a Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Fiber-Optic telemetry system. Prizm will deliver their fiber optic multiplexer systems modified to meet the requirements of the CSS. Purchase order N61331-03-M-1321 was awarded on a sole source basis to Prizm for an identical modified system. On that order, Prizm Advanced Communication Electronics Inc. agreed that they would meet all of the project requirements or there would be no obligation on the government's part to buy the system. It would be returned to Prizm. No other COTS system had been found that came close to meeting all of the project requirements. This modified system was delivered, integrated into the CSS project, an d met all requirements imposed. Accordingly, a second unit is being procured to meet the overall CSS needs. Integration and testing of any other proposed system would require at least 10 man-weeks of effort, the cost of which could not reasonably be expected to be offset by a lower price for the basic system. Delivery of the hardware will occur within 8 weeks of award of the order. Delivery will be to the Coastal Systems Station, 6703 W. Highway 98, Panama City, FL 32407-7001. NAICS Code 334511 applies. Size Standard is 750 employees.
