- Description
- MapInfo Software: The United States General Accounting Office (GAO) intends to issue an order under other than full and open competition to MapInfo Corporation, 3 Bethesda Metro Center, Suite M025, Bethesda, MD 20814. The purpose of this acquisition is to convert GAO?s existing installed base of standalone MapInfo software licenses to a limited concurrent license able to be managed through GAO?s Novell-based network. The total number of limited concurrent use licenses to be acquired is to be 25. As well, GAO will acquire Upgrade Protection for a period of 1 year. This limited concurrent use license is a custom license to be provided by MapInfo Corporation to allow GAO to satisfy its pattern of intermittent project driven use without having to acquire a large number of individual licenses, or the unlimited concurrent use license, both options being cost prohibitive. MapInfo is the sole provider of this custom license and it is not available from MapInfo partners or VARs. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only once source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, the Government will consider all proposals received within thirty days after date of publication of this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. See Note 22.
