- NASA/MSFC plans to issue a sole source Request for Quote (RFQ) for DESIGN AND FAB OF GOX / KEROSENE THRUSTER PR # 4200008373 NASA/MSFC has a requirement for DESIGN AND FAB OF GOX / KEROSENE THRUSTER NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from G.G. Industries in Laguna Hills, CA 92654 The thruster shall have provisions for measuring chamber pressure and to igniting the propellants with a spark plug. The nozzle of the thruster shall transition from a round entrance to a square exit. Vendor shall clean the hardware prior to delivery to NASA/MSFC. However, vendor will not clean the hardware for oxygen service. NASA/MSFC will clean hardware for oxygen service prior to hot-fire testing. Appropriate design calculations and drawings will be provided with the delivered injector and combustion chamber. Propellants: GOX/Kerosene Chamber Pressure:175 PSI Maximum fuel flow rate:0.08 lb/sec Mixture Ratio: 2.0 Throat Diameter: 0.537 inches Total burn time: 75 second Chamber coolant: water Approximate thrust: 50 lb Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on 04/30/03. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications [are not] acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit a response which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note "B". This procurement is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.
