Description
This notice serves as a Sources Sought Notice/Market Survey for informational purposes only and is not to be construed as a Request for Proposal or as an obligation on the part of the Government. There is no solicitation and no further information is available at this time. There will be no contract as a result of this Market Survey and the Government does not intend to pay for information received. The Government will utilize the information provided for planning purposes only. The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC is seeking qualified firms with existing hardware or the capability to integrate existing technology, hardware/systems to meet the U.S. Army's needs for the Highly Extrudable High Explosive. The Army is interested in explosive material or system that is commercially available, possesses an explosive output comparable to or better than existing military demolition explosives (C4), is highly extrudable and may be packaged in tubes or cartridges. The packaged explosive material shall be capable of being extruded or dispensed in a continuous bead using manual forces or simple mechanical hand operated equipment, similar to dispensing from a toothpaste tube or caulking cartridge. The bead of explosive material shall have the tenacity to adhere to most surfaces in both horizontal and vertical orientations without sagging, puddling or breaking. The explosive material in either bulk or bead form shall be capable of being initiated using all current military initiating systems and be usable under all standard military operating conditions. The packaged material shall be capable of long term storage under all military environments without degrading, separating or significantly altering its properties. The material shall also be compliant with applicable military explosive safety requirements, including "Insensitive Munitions" provisions. Interested firms are invited to submit inputs, in writing, either electronically or via hard copy, for an item that can meet the above requirements and is currently being sold to the Government or to the commercial market.
